Donate Fabric and Craft Supplies
At LifeCraft Studio, we help unwanted fabric, sewing, knitting and textile supplies move from makers who no longer need them into the hands of makers who do. We source many of the items in our shop through donations, helping useful creative materials stay in circulation rather than going to waste.

Why Donate Your Craft Supplies?
Many makers build up collections of fabrics, yarns, patterns and tools with the best intentions, only to find they no longer have the time or space to use them all. When supplies become a burden rather than a pleasure, passing them on can be the best option.
By donating unwanted craft materials, you can help keep useful supplies in circulation and give them the opportunity to be used by another maker. Each donation is assessed and suitable items are prepared for reuse, with the aim of minimising waste wherever possible.
By donating, you:
- Extend the life of quality materials
- Reduce textile and craft waste
- Support sustainable, creative making
- Help other makers access affordable supplies
Where possible, donated materials are put back into use, repurposed or responsibly dealt with according to their condition.
What We Accept
We accept clean, usable items related to sewing, knitting and textile crafts, including:
✔️ Fabric, including lengths, remnants and smaller usable pieces
Haberdashery, sewing notions, trims and embellishments
✔️ Knitting yarn, wool, and accessories
✔️ Sewing and knitting tools
✔️ Patterns and craft books
✔️ Textile craft equipment and accessories
If it’s something you’d expect to find in a a sewing room, craft room or maker's stash, it’s likely suitable. If you’re unsure, please contact us first.
What We Can’t Accept
To ensure donated items can be reused responsibly, we cannot accept:
❌ Clothing in any condition
❌ Fabric with pins attached
❌ Magazines
❌ Wool with visible moth damage
❌ Very dirty, heavily stained items
❌ Items with strong or persistent odours
What Happens After You Donate
Every donation is checked and sorted according to its condition and potential for reuse. Suitable fabrics, trims, yarns, tools and other supplies are identified, measured and prepared to be passed on to other makers through the LifeCraft Studio shop.
Where materials aren’t suitable for resale, we look for opportunities to reuse or repurpose them where practical. Items that cannot be reused are dealt with as responsibly as possible.
The aim is to keep as much useful material in circulation as we can while minimising waste.
Items that are suitable for reuse are:
- Measured and prepared for sale in our shop
- Reused by other makers who prefer sustainable materials
Items that can’t be reused are:
- Recycled responsibly wherever possible
- Repurposed in creative projects
This process helps ensure minimal waste and maximum creative reuse — keeping more materials in the hands of makers and out of landfill.
How to Donate
Local Collection – Free within approximately 30 miles of Reading
We're based in central Reading and offer free collection of suitable donations from locations within approximately 30 miles, or around an hour's travel, of RG1.
Please get in touch to arrange a collection.
By Post
Donations can also be sent by post at the donor’s own cost. Please package items securely and send them to:

Do you accept small donations?
Yes! Small bundles, remnants and single items are welcome.
Can businesses or studios donate excess supplies?
Yes. We’re happy to accept larger donations from studios or businesses—please contact us first to discuss.
Will I be paid for donated items?
No. LifeCraft Studio accepts items as donations and does not pay for donated supplies. Donated materials help support the work of keeping useful craft supplies in circulation and making them available to other makers.
Do you collect fabric and sewing supplies from my area?
We collect suitable donations within within approximately 30 miles, or around an hour's travel from central Reading. Please get in touch to arrange a collection or discuss how to get donations to us.
Can international donations be sent?
At this time we only operate in the UK, so do not accept donations from overseas.
